Adopt technology to deliver added value from supplier relationship management (SRM)

Ladbrokes is a world leader in the betting and gaming industry, with over 2,700 betting outlets in the UK, Ireland, Belgium and Spain, and over 800,000 active online customers.

Following a period of high sourcing and contract activity, we sought focus in the delivery of value from relationships with strategic suppliers. A commitment was set to adopt more best practice supplier relationship management (SRM), high levels of performance, efficient cost management and supplier value-add. Within the agreed SRM improvement framework, the implementation of the Statess supplier management software enabled us to more effectively and efficiently manage supplier contracts, performance and relationships. Using the platform, we adopt a consistent governance framework for SRM and facilitate the implementation of the SRM processes across our top tier suppliers, planning to expand this in 2016.

Our relationships with our suppliers are important to us. We recognise the value that will be created through:

  • Managed collaboration

  • Mature supplier management processes

  • Thorough supplier performance management process

  • Channelled mechanism for innovation with key suppliers

Ladbrokes’ supplier management platform has received excellent engagement

Mid-2014, Ladbrokes approached State of Flux to create an SRM handbook. During this process a collection of tools and templates were created together with the alignment of processes to best practice. This positioned us ideally for a transition to the supplier management software.

Here at Ladbrokes, we have branded this the Partner Intelligence Platform (PIP) to manage our strategic partners’ risks, performance, actions and meetings. It is quick and easy to navigate, the layout is clean, and with suppliers also using it regularly, the information and data that sits within it is very comprehensive. The unique selling point however, is what can be done with this information by the user from interface. We use the governance, performance, risk and innovation modules to aggregate information entered by suppliers and business users.

Some of the core benefits include:

  • Data visualisation and manipulation to ease use and identification of key focal areas

  • Future-proofed solution to meet our current and future needs

  • Outputs of the SRM handbook produced by State of Flux are embodied

  • Supplier management software is backed up by ten years’ experience and global SRM research

Since go live in September 2014, we have rolled the platform out to our pilot strategic suppliers and look to expand this to the remainder of our top tier suppliers by the end of 2015. We have found the engagement to be excellent and the monthly meetings to review usage reflect this. One of the features we have found particularly useful is the approval of information feature as it enables us to quickly assess the quality of material suppliers are uploading.

"The SRM platform and supporting methodology has proved a great success for Banner. Our relationship has grown through greater visibility of our performance and strategic direction." Dominic Harris, Client Services Director, Banner Managed Communication
